We offer pick-up anywhere in the Papagayo area, at hotels such as Secrets, Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria, Ritz-Carlton, Andaz, Planet Hollywood, El Mangroove, Villas Sol, Bosque del Mar, Hotel Riu, and many more.
What time does the tour start?
Departure: Around 5:00 PM (depending on sunset and sea conditions).

BIOLUMINESCENCE NIGHT TOUR – A MAGICAL OCEAN EXPERIENCE
Discover the magic of the ocean after sunset!
Experience one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in Costa Rica: bioluminescence! This unique 2–3 hour boat adventure takes you through the beautiful waters of Bahía Culebra and the Gulf of Papagayo, where nature creates an unforgettable light show.
Our adventure can begin around 5:00 PM, giving us time to enjoy the spectacular sunset near Cabeza de Mono or another beautiful location in the bay.
As the sun goes down, we’ll explore the surrounding waters and beautiful beaches. If we’re lucky, we may even encounter dolphins swimming freely in the bay!
Once darkness arrives, we’ll navigate toward the areas where bioluminescent plankton may be present. When conditions are right, these tiny marine organisms create a magical blue glow in the water, illuminating the waves and every movement beneath the surface.
We’ll have the opportunity to stop at a beautiful beach, put on our snorkeling masks, and experience this natural phenomenon up close. You can watch the glowing waves from the boat or enter the water to discover the sparkling lights beneath the surface.
Important Information – Every Experience Is Unique!
Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon, so its visibility changes from night to night. Some evenings offer a stronger glow, while on others it may be less visible. Weather conditions, wind, moonlight, and other natural factors can influence the experience.
For this reason, every bioluminescence tour is unique, and although we always do our best to find the best conditions, sightings and intensity cannot be guaranteed.
